What’s the Buzz: Mosquitoes and The Zika Virus

At One Two Tree, we know how mosquitoes just love the subtropical climate of Miami, where it’s always warm enough throughout the year to breed, and there’s so many sources of food available to them.
With the latest in disease developments around South Florida,
  • Broward County, 2 cases
  • Hillsborough County, 3 cases
  • Lee County, 2 cases
  • Miami-Dade County, 6 cases
  • Osceola County, 1 case
  • Santa Rosa County, 1 case
  • St. Johns County, 1 case
We’re stressing now, more than ever that Mosquito Control is now a higher priority for anyone who wants to keep themselves safe from any well-known mosquito-borne illnesses.
The Zika Virus in particular is one of the most prevalent right now.

But this new mosquito-spread virus has been around since the 1950s, and has horrible consequences for those infected. Though it has had six reported cases in Miami from travelers coming back from known hot areas, such as Brazil and South America, it is so far incurable.

It also has a directly negative effect on pregnant women, which can cause illness and increase the change for microcephaly to develop in newborn infants. The threat is so large that even the local government and CDC are taking joint efforts in keeping the populations down.
Especially now, after the winter chill has dissipated and the fact that it has been raining so often, there’s a lot of standing water left over. This standing water can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes around the area, especially if left unchecked and untreated.

While keeping up with proper mosquito control methods around the home, know that this pesky South Florida native is known to trouble people and pets alike with their biting habits, and their ability to breed unnaturally fast.

But if you’re having too much trouble on your own, take some advice from our pest control experts at One Two Tree, which is on top of the situation. Our experience in the pest control field allows us to use the latest available technology to deal with the mosquito threat, which includes the thermal fogger system used by the CDC in heavy infestation zones.
We reduce populations around domestic and business properties with timely treatments, followed by the necessary assessments.  We want our family of customers to be able to enjoy their yards again for the first time since the beginning of the year.

And we can shine some light on our latest population control method:
-       Thermal Fogging:

This thermal fogging treatment is one of the latest and best-known methods for controlling flying insect populations in areas with heavy foliage. Notably used by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to great effect in areas affected by the Zika Virus, this portable system is meant for large scale treatment of indoor and outdoor environments.

If you want to protect your homes from these biting menaces, it’s as easy as One Two Tree.
